I thought it was simply careless, lazy writing. I thought these writers just chose to ignore the subtlety of marketing.

But today, as I was thinking about what more I could say about article writing, I started thinking about these writers and it ocurred to me, maybe they just don’t know HOW to write an article that does not blatantly sell a product, but DOES lead to their product’s sales page. So that is today’s topic.

How To Write An Article That Informs, Not Just Sells
The basic premise you need to remember is that people do NOT want to read yet another commercial pitch. We all want the highest and best for the Internet, and also, to not have it be full of garbage—or sales pitches. Be honest, you get up and go into the kitchen during those 30 minutes of commercials between every 5 minutes of the show you watch on TV, right? I know you do, so do I.

There’s a reason why it’s called the “information highway.” What we want on the Internet is information. Your articles need to inform and educate. So, if you are selling a product, or some such, how do you do that? You want the world to know how awesome your product is, correct? But you cannot simply write about your product.

Instead, you write about the PROBLEMS your product solves.
You talk about about the SOLUTIONS to those problems (the intrinsic values of the solutions, not specific products that would solve said problems). Then you offer, through your resource box, a way for your reader to do more investigation of a possible solution—your product.

Alright, let’s put this into action. You have a kick-butt affiliate product. It’s going to make you a bunch of money, provided you can drive traffic to the sales page. What are you going to talk about?

Are you going to talk about the product, itself? Are you going to write about the value your product will give your customers? No! That is the purpose of the sales page.

You need to address the PROBLEM that your product will solve. Draw the reader in by describing the problem. Share with them the difficulties that this problem brings. Share a personal ancedote, if you have one.

Then, you can start talking about solutions to the problems. Solutions… not a product that will solve the problem, but the actual “what-it’s-going-to-take” to solve the problem. The values intrinsic to whatever solutions there might be.

Example: I sell MicroNiche Finder, one of the best solutions out there for the problem of proper keyword analysis. But instead of just saying that, I do the following:

I point out the problem intrinisic with finding the right keywords, describing in detail how it is rather difficult and daunting, especially to newcomers.

The “solution” would be to find a way to streamline the process. I would even give steps to help eliminate PART of the problem, right there, in the article, for free. In the case of MNF, I would talk about the free tools that exist, pointing out that they are only partial solutions.

Lastly, I write about the benefits of finding a complete solution, and this is the paragraph that will lead to my resource box where my call to action and sales page links are.

Bottom line: Be informative with everything you write.

During each day, for just one product/project/campaign, you have been writing articles and posting them to the article directories. Using Pingler.com and Onlywire.com, you have been pinging and bookmarking the articles each day.

You should start seeing some kind of results soon, if you haven’t already. Have you checked Google for your keywords yet? Head for Google and do that. First do a broad match (placing the keywords in the box) and see if your page comes up anywhere in the first three pages results. If not, this will tell you you have more articles to write and more lenses/hubpages to create.

Remember, all your links in all the articles and lenses/hub pages should point back to the first batch of articles you posted at GoArticles.com. THOSE are the articles you are looking to find in a Google SERP.

The next action item to integrate into your campaign is hitting the trail, so to speak and doing some forum marketing, blog commenting and answering some Yahoo Answers questions.

But where? Head back to Google and type in, Forum: (YOUR KEYWORD HERE). In other words, if you are writing articles about iguanas, then a forum search term at Google would be “Forum: iguanas” and such (with or without quotes–doesn’t matter, in this instance. Try both ways, see what comes up).

Make note of each forum’s popularity and page rank. Write down (or Favorite) any that look interesting to you. These will be the Forums you will visit, a little later on. What you will be doing is creating a profile, with appropriate signatures, and then you’ll start posting. But only after you’ve gathered a list of Forums to visit.

Next, back to Google and type in, blog: iguanas (following our previous example). Just like your Forums list, make a list of potential blogs to visit. Then one more time at Google, type in, site: iguanas. Again, make note of sites with high PR and popularity. Not every website will have the capability for commenting (like having guestbooks and whatnot), but some do and it’s worth a try. That’s why you can also go back to Google and type blog: iguanas.

Make note of sites/blog that have potential for your needs. Why am I suggesting you only make note of these sites? I find that if I load up a SERP and start on that list, pretty soon, I’ve gotten derailed, looking at so many sites and searching each site for commenting sections. Before I know it, I’ve only hit one or two sites and I’m caught up in a chaos that bogs me down.

That annoys me. I find I need a plan of attack. So, I make a list of places to go, and then, I head out to do my commenting in a methodical manner.

Now you are set to get started. Head over to Yahoo Answers and do a search for any open questions that have your subject matter in the question. Find any questions you can answer and in the Source Box, create an anchor text link to one of your GoArticles articles. You may not find too many questions, but if you do this every day, you’ll start to become recognized, by the readers, as an authority on the subject.

Then get out your list of sites, and start commenting (NEVER SPAM THE WEBSITES). For the forums, of course, start registering and creating a profile complete with signatures. Then find threads to which you can make relevant posts. NEVER SPAM THE FORUMS.

You don’t have to do them all in one day, especially in the forums, where setting up profiles can be time consuming. But remember, you can’t eat an elephant all in one day, either, so just keep at it.

That’s the key to this whole darn shootin’ match. Just keep at it.

There are numerous other things you can be doing to promote your GoArticle articles, as well, and I’m sure you’ve got more than a few eBooks on your hard drive to teach you all about them. Point is, never stop promoting those articles.

That is, until it’s on auto-pilot and you’re making a decent enough income from it.

That’s my plan of attack in a 3-step nutshell. Goos luck to you all!

Google has an “Image Search”, and when people look for pictures there, they will see your photos. Let’s say your website is about roses. If a person searches for a picture of a rose on Google image search will get a whole page of pictures of roses.

If the person clicks on a photo that they like, they will be sent to a page with a small version of your image along with a snapshot of your web page. A lot of people will click through to your web page.

If you use a really cute or unusual picture, you can really get a lot of traffic from it. I discovered this by accident, but I have been using it deliberately ever since.

Some ideas for using image search:

1) Make sure Google knows what the photo is about.

- Use your keywords in the file name. Don’t use some random letters or numbers. Use some words that are related to your post.

- Use keywords in the alt tag of the photo. Just use a few words. Don’t make it excessively long.

- Words found near the photo influence the meaning also. Google uses this to figure out what the photo is of. So watch what text you have near your images.

- Adding a caption to the image will give Google additional text to figure out the photo’s subject.

- For a blind person, the alt tag text is what they get instead of the photo. And for people who have images turned off, this alternate text is what that they will see instead of the image.

2) How to keep your pages loading fast while using images.

- Be sure to specify the height and width of the photo. This way the page load is not slowed down while you are waiting for the picture to load.

If the browser knows the size of your photo, it can leave room for it and continue loading the rest of your page. Otherwise, it has to wait until the photo loads before it knows how much room to leave, which slows down the loading of the rest of your page.

- Check the size of your photo file. It should be under 20-30k. This is especially important if you use a lot of images on one page. If your file sizes are too large, it can really slow down your page load.

If your image files are too large, use and image editor to save them at a lesser quality. A lower quality image will still look good on a web page.

3) Choose your photos wisely.

- Use photos that people will be attracted to and will click on. – Use keywords that are apt to be searched.

If you follow these tips, your pictures will have a much better chance of being found first in Google’s image search. If you add an image to every post you make, this greatly improves your chances of getting lots of traffic to your website or blog.

If you are not sure what these are, they are more like keyword phrases and if you don’t have any there is a free tool supplied by Google where you can find them to
begin building a list. Make sure that you use keywords that are three words or longer, as these will be easier to get indexed by the search engines.

Once you have the keywords that you wish to use, you can then concentrate on writing your articles around them.

b) Always make sure that your article title contains your keywords within it, and try to include them as close to the beginning as possible. You
may even want to just use them as your article title provided it is in line with the article you are writing. Just remember that these articles will be read by real people and need to make sense.

c) Use the keyword in the opening paragraph of your article and you can even bold it to make it stand out more for the search engines. It will also help to emphasize what your article is about.

d) You can use your keyword in the body of the article as well, but don’t overdo it as this will be considered as keyword stuffing and is not appreciated by the search engines. It will
not give you extra benefits, if anything it will detract from the search engines ranking your blog well.

What you can do though is use variations of your keyword phrase so long as it is in context with the article you are writing and sounds natural. For example if your keyword phrase was home based internet business, you could use online business from home or just home based online business, as an idea.

e) The closing paragraph can again include you keyword phrase, and here you can bold it again as you did in the beginning paragraph. The reason for this is that the search engine
spiders generally check the article starting from the bottom and go up to the top of the page.

When writing an article for your blog it is not necessary to make it longer thank 250 words. Just make sure that you provide useful content. If necessary take your longer articles and break
them down into two or even three 250 word articles. This will save you time and it will be construed as more content as each article is a separate post.

One last thing that is well worth considering is to bookmark each post you make to your blog. You can do this using a submission site such as Social Bookmarker or Onlywire.com. You will need to join the directories that are listed on the submission site first, before you can start using them.

Writing a search engine friendly blog article is vital if you wish to rank higher in the search engines such as Google and will help you in the long run to build a more successful online income business.

Get realistic hints in the sphere of web traffic – your personal knowledge base.

There are several features that Google has implemented to make keyword research drilling so much easier, but the one that really blew me away is something called the “Wonder Wheel.” It’s awesome.



First, go to Google and do a search. When your search results come up, look to the left of the bar just above the first result. You will see a link, “Show Options.”

Clicking on it will take you to a new page, where you will see some specific information about your search. Next click on “Wonder Wheel” on the left hand side:

And this is what I’m so jazzed about: a wheel and spokes mind map that makes it SO easy to drill down your keywords:
