Writing Articles Brings Visitors
Jul 6th, 2009 | By CJ | Category: Article WritingWriting articles almost became a lost art, until the Internet revived it. Some folks write for money and some folks write for pleasure. No matter which category you fall into, you both have a basic need for traffic, that is, people coming to your website/blog to read what you have to say. It’s not enough to simply throw a website up and start writing articles, that is, if you want more than just your mother to read it.
Since you’re writing articles anyway…
…creating some articles for syndication shouldn’t be that big a task for you.

Even if you take some of your own work and reword it, re-work it–generally, just rewrite it–these kinds of articles will be good for distributing to the various article directories and syndication memberships.

Of course, the smartest thing to do when writing articles for syndication is to do some keyword research. After you’ve determined who your audience should be, figure out what they are looking for. Then go after the less-popular keywords they might use in a search engine (the more popular–read that, obvious–keywords will have too much competition). Target those less obvious keywords when writing articles, submit them to the directories, and within hours, your article should be on the first page of the Search Results Page.
You see, search engines love regularly updated websites, and article directories tend to fall right into that category, so the search engines are constantly crawling those kinds of sites for new content to index. I have personally had articles posted at GoArticles.com land on Page 1 of Google’s search results page within in a couple of hours.
So, writing articles will bring you traffic, but you gotta know how your readers AND the search engines think!
A Fun Fact...

Articles will bring you traffic and backlink. Of course only on sites that allow dofollow backlinks.
Well, articles posted to the article syndication sites, like Syndicate Kahuna and Free Traffic System, will net you some backlinks if the dofollow instruction has been implemented by the site owner where the article is posted. In that, you are absolutely right. But articles posted to the article directories are an automatic backlink. And since the top-ranking article directories tend to have high page rank, this is another plus in the “eyes” of the search engines for the ranking your own sites.
Thanks for pointing that out!

Outstanding post. I agree that article writing is a wonderful way to generate traffic. As a matter of fact, that is what I do for a living. LOL. Well thought out and written posting, and I love your site!
CJ: I am surprised that you mention GoArticles but not EzineArticles, I find EZA articles ranking on first page of google more often than I find for CJ, not to mention the number of blogs that copy content from these article directories. Your point about low competition keywords, commonly referred to as long-tail keywords is what makes article syndication / submission / reprinting worth the effort.
BTW, you should move that math question ‘above’ submit comment button. I don’t want to be called spambot just because the spam question is not placed correctly
Steven,
Thanks so much for dropping by and commenting! I certainly appreciate everyone who does!
As far as EZA goes, yes, they are the Number 1 article directory out there, but there’s a reason why I don’t use them or mention them. Everyone is, of course, free to use them, I just refrain from recommending them, is all. Here’s the post I write about them detailing my “problem” with them: http://articlewritingnews.com/my-favourite-article-directory-is/
And about the math captcha… I am so sorry! I sure did not place it there to insult anyone! It’s a wordpress plugin, so I don’t think I can move it, but I’ll look into it. MY deepest apologies!
